Your first-week setup checklist
The order that gets a new workspace live fastest — number, templates, contacts, team, then automation.
Set Vatli up in this order. Each step unlocks the next, and most teams are sending their first campaign on day one.
When your workspace is new, the dashboard shows a Getting started card with the first three steps and a progress bar. It disappears once they’re done.
Day 1 — go live
- Connect your WhatsApp number. Use Connect with Facebook — it takes about five minutes. Then check the connection.
- Set your default country. In Settings → WhatsApp → Default country for phone numbers, pick where most customers are. Numbers saved without a country code are read against it. See Phone number format.
- Create your first templates. You need an approved template to start a conversation. Submit a welcome template and one for your most common follow-up. See Create a message template. Approval usually takes minutes, sometimes up to 24 hours.
- Import your contacts. Upload a CSV or connect a Google Sheet. See Import contacts from CSV.
- Send yourself a test. Open a contact with your own number and send a template from the contact page, then reply from your phone and answer from the inbox.
Day 2 — bring your team
- Invite your teammates and choose their roles.
- Create tags your team will use, such as Hot lead, Paid or Support.
- Save quick replies for answers you type every day.
- Set up your sales pipeline stages.
Day 3 — automate
- Add an auto-reply for new chats or a welcome menu flow.
- Turn on the AI assistant and add your FAQs to its knowledge base.
- Running Meta ads? Switch on Ads attribution before your next campaign — attribution can’t be added to past leads.
Write your templates and flows around the 24-hour window: a customer’s message opens a free reply window for 24 hours, and outside it only templates go through. Read The 24-hour customer service window once before you plan campaigns.
