Change, reconnect or disconnect your number
Switch to a different number or Meta app, refresh an expired token, or reset the connection — and what happens to your data.
Who can do this: Owner or Admin (needs the WhatsApp connection permission)Plan: All plans
A Vatli workspace holds one WhatsApp number at a time. Your contacts, chats, deals and settings stay in the workspace when you change the number.
Refresh an expired or revoked token (manual connections)
If messages fail with error 190 or the card says your credentials are invalid:
- Create a new permanent system-user token in Meta Business Settings.
- In Settings → WhatsApp → Enter credentials manually, paste it into Permanent Access Token.
- Click Save Configuration, then Test API Connection.
Switch to a different Meta app
- Open Enter credentials manually.
- Enter the new Meta App ID, and paste the new app’s App Secret and Permanent Access Token. Vatli clears the old secret and token as soon as the App ID changes, so it never mixes credentials from two apps.
- Click Save Configuration, then copy the new Callback URL and Verify Token into the new app’s webhook settings.
Connect a different number
- Click Reset Configuration at the bottom of Settings → WhatsApp and confirm. This removes the stored credentials; nothing else is deleted.
- Connect the new number with Connect with Facebook or manual setup.
Templates belong to a WhatsApp Business Account. If the new number is in a different WhatsApp Business Account, your old templates won’t work — create and approve them again, then use Sync from Meta in Settings → Templates.
What changing the number does to your data
- Kept: contacts, tags, custom fields, conversation history, deals, automations, flows, broadcasts history, team and billing.
- Customers see a new number: their next message to the new number opens a fresh 24-hour window. Messages they send to the old number no longer reach Vatli.
